Cary | town in W Wake County, settled about 1863 as the site of Frank Page's lumber operations and known as Page's Turnout or Page's Tavern. Later, when the railroad was built, it became Page's Siding. Inc. 1871 as Carey; named for Senator Samuel Fenton Carey (1814-1900) of Ohio, a Prohibition leader. The spelling became Cary as early as 1899. |
